Call one of the senior instructors to get your free flight training book How to Survive More than One Flight with your First Airplane, by Dan Sheridan. We can also answer any questions you might have. Please call either of the two senior instructors Scott Bestor at 202-1934 or Bernie Drier at 288-1231.
-
Read and understand the club rules, which will be in your book and are posted at the field. If you have any questions have the instructor clarify them at the first lesson.
-
Please call one of the club instructors to make an appointment for flight training. This will insure that there will be somebody at the field to assist you. You are not required to use the same instructor each time. Feel free to call a different instructor if you desire. It makes a nice way to get to know other members of the club.

Before coming to the field read up on the next lesson or two in the book so you have an idea of what you are going to try and accomplish at the field.
-
Remember to bring your book to the field and when you are done for the day to have your instructor fill in the comment section in the back of the book.
-
Before you arrive at the field you should make sure your radio equipment has been charged and the switches are in the off position.
-
When you arrive at the field you should take your transmitter and place it in the impound box under the frequency control board until your frequency is free and your instructor tells you to get it.
-
Pay attention to what your instructor has to say and show you. Something's such as flying field etiquette can be learned by observing.
-
Relax and take your time. If you feel tired or worn out call it a day and schedule a lesson for another day. Learning to fly can take many lessons expect it.
-
When your instructor says you are ready you will schedule an appointment with one of the senior instructors to give you your check flight, where you will be asked to do three takeoffs and landings, demonstrate the correct pattern and flying field etiquette after which, you will then be considered a R/C Pilot and allowed to fly solo without an instructor.
